March 18/14  – “Reflection, Yoga & Writing by the Sea of Cortes” Trip

From Vancouver, it is a 5.5 hours of plane ride to Los Cabos, then 2.5 hours of driving before arriving in Baja California.  But it is totally worth it!!

Coming from Vancouver’s winter weather just makes me appreciate the PERFECT weather here much more.  It’s NOT humid at all; around 25 to 30 degrees with nice wind every day.   Oh and this desert has NO mosquitoes (cause it’s so dry).

I have been spending my days  lying down for hours in a tranquil environment enjoying the sound of the waves coming from Sea of Cortes while reading again hundreds of old blogs accumulated since 15 years ago.  What a great place for self-reflection!

In the afternoon, watching all those colorful kite boarders having fun in the vivid blue color water in front of me is an invigorating view for sure.  I also enjoyed watching the sunrise  and walking on the very fine white sand, probably the finest sand I had ever walked on, on the beach.

Yoga by the beach hearing only the sounds of the birds was really nice.  I quite enjoyed paddle boarding for the first time here.  I am happy that I managed to get a lot of my writings done.  This trip confirms I am totally ready for solo trips.  For the first time, I am finally experiencing the freedom that many solo travelers have shared with me.  I get to choose when I want to connect with people and when to be alone.  In a lot of ways, it’s so much easier than travelling with someone and having to co-ordinate with their likes and dislikes for say, 5 days.

These are pieces of information I got from Wiki travel about this place:  Baja California is a Mexican peninsula extending into the Pacific Ocean from the south end of the U.S. state of California.  Plenty of camping and hiking opportunities, and much of the region is sparsely or even unpopulated. The “Baja” is also home to world-class kite boarding, surfing, sailing and deep sea fishing destinations.  The Baja peninsula is one of the longest in the world and offers an interesting mix of cultures with a wonderful combination of Latino, Hispanic, pre-Hispanic and even some Anglo influences.

Traveling is something I will continue to do for sure especially now that I have accepted having solo trips. I think that in order for me to be completely caught up in the things I want to do such as blog writing, photo sorting and re-writing my mom’s story, I will need at least 6 to 12 months of solo trips to avoid distractions like those that I get at home.  Lol.  But seriously, there are so many more places I want to explore.  But for now, this trip is over and I am going home to see my kids and mom whom I did miss dearly…
