Kelowna - March 2018

What an amazing weekend in Kelowna celebrating my god grandma’s 100th birthday!  Wow! How cool is that?  That’s an amazing achievement!  Furthermore, she is still quite healthy with so much hair left and able to recall memories going back as far as 39 years ago when our family first arrived in Canada!  After this trip, I am so motivated to stay healthy so I too can live to 100!

Grandma MacKenzie was working as a secretary for the Olivet Baptist Church which sponsored us to Canada back in 1979.  Her and her husband volunteered to help us settle into a new country, for which we shall always be very grateful towards their kindness.  My parents treated them like their own parents, so we called them grandma and grandpa for the last 39 years.  Mom taught us to be grateful therefore we would go to Kelowna regularly all these years to see grandma and give her spending money. This time mom, Deon and I purposely flew into Kelowna to celebrate her 100th birthday with her.

What made this weekend even more special for me was spending time with my mom and my 2 sons.  We stayed at Kelvin’s condo and he was a great host.  The 3 restaurants he recommended we ate at were all very good.  But more importantly, it was the people I was with that made it extra special.  🙂

Both mom and I were very happy to see Kel’s new place: it was nicely decorated and very clean and tidy.  Kel has really matured.  I love watching the way my 2 sons connect with each other.  I feel very proud to see the man Kelvin has become!
