April 20/14 – Eleven years ago today was when West Point Grey Academy accepted Kel into the grade 7. He was 1 of the 3 kids that got accepted out of 38 applicants. Two weeks later, I received the notice that Jo had also been accepted, grade 5.
At this time, I was also going back to school to try to get that square hat on my head. So, after calculating the final bill for our schooling and the expenses that go with it, I realized that I needed to postpone my plan of retiring. I knew that that was the right decision and I looked forward to the bright future of my kids. The news motivated me to work even harder – for a better life for myself and the kids.
Two years later, this same time, I got notice that Deon made it to WPGA as well. He was 1 of the 34 that got accepted among the over 100 applicants.
I recall that relief that I felt then because nothing’s more important than my kids’ future which of course starts from having a good education. Now, I am happy that my investment (time, effort, money) in them had not gone to waste. WPGA accepts children who are well-rounded and who, they know, have the potential of being able to live up to its high academic standards. I was glad that it recognizes the potential of my children. I am proud that all my 3 children got accepted into one of the best private schools in this province.
Proud Mom of 3 WPGA Kids = 7
Having had a chance to interact with your kids, I can say that they are well-rounded for sure. And sharp! You should definitely be proud.
Coming from you, this acknowledgment really makes me all the more proud… 🙂
Very energetic post, I loved that bit. Will there be
a part 2?
