What an amazing trip before summer is over!

Family Houseboat Trip!

There were 23 of us on this year’s 5-day houseboat trip.  The 6-hr drive to get to Sicamous, BC, the Houseboat Capital of Canada, was all worth it when I saw all the smiles and laughter on everyone’s face.

Watching the teenagers play the drinking games reminded me of what I did decades ago.   I can’t believe I am joining my own kids to do the same thing I did 30 plus years later.   Time really flies.

Witnessing how Justin is turning into a fine young man was beautiful.

Watching the little kids play made me realize again of how fast they are growing so we should really enjoy them while they are still young and still enjoy being with us.  Time will come when they will want to be with their own circle of friends more than be with us.

Listening to mom and uncle Andy talk about the past made me again grateful for my family.   Indeed, family bonding time is so priceless!  Thanks to Lisa & Dave for being the family organizer for another awesome trip!

I managed to spend 1- to 2-hrs a day on the deck to connect with myself.  Surprisingly, the time went by more quickly than I thought.  I was inspired to become a “temporary monk” after I tie up all the loose ends in my projects now.  I want to be secluded in an environment where there are no distractions from the external world.  Now more then ever, I feel that it’s time to focus on connecting with myself at a deeper level.  I want to start loving myself unconditionally so that I can love others purely and without any expectations.  I am convinced that the more I can connect with me, the more I can connect with people and things around me.   Everything starts with myself!

Can’t believe summer is almost over.  Kel and Jo will be back to school next week.  Tomorrow, I will accompany De to the island to start his new life in a boarding school.  He seems excited about that.  I am excited too because I am convinced that the new environment will be good for him.  I took him out of school for traveling for 2 years.  While he gained a lot, he also missed out on the social life with his peers.   I hope the choice of boarding school where he will be living with kids from many different countries 24/7 will be a whole new experience for him.  I am confident that the professional teachers and house parents there will be doing a great job in mentoring my son.  I am sure I will get a better feel after spending the next 5 days with the staff over there.

Going home now.  Yet, I am already looking forward to our next family trip which will be Christmas on the Quantum of the Sea Cruise!

  1. This was fun to read. I feel so similar that time is going so fast. I want to keep the kids little as long as possible although i love watching their growth! Hope Dee will have a whole new world!! I feel like we are on the same boat ( no pun intended) with respect to connecting with ourselves. Eagerly awaiting to hear how the chess tournament goes.

    1. Hi Chris,

Glad that you somehow feel the same way. Indeed, time flies; children grow and start to go away. You will surely read a lot about the Millionaire Chess here.

      Thank you
