Update #16 – Las Vegas

Vegas - Sept 2012 - 10

September 20/12 –  I feel very privileged and grateful to be able to come to Vegas to celebrate Mom’s 64th BD with all my siblings and my favourite uncle and aunties this year. Seeing how happy Mom was is a very priceless feeling for me….

Mirage Hotel (Vegas) - 02 Mirage Hotel (Vegas) - 01

I experience Vegas very differently this time since I’ve lost the desire to gamble when I made the decision to quit 6 months ago.  I saw a lot more of Vegas this time than all the last dozens of times I was here.  I feel this is a great city because there’s something for everyone (all ages) to do such as gambling, watching shows, shopping, eating, partying, skydiving, gun shooting, car racing and this list continues…. Second to going on a cruise, I think Vegas will be the next option for family trips.  However, since there are 20 of us, it’s not easy to find a place that is suitable for all of us to enjoy.  On top of this, it’s only a 2-hr flight from Vancouver.

Indoor Skydiving - 24 Indoor Skydiving - 07

I am very glad to have experienced the indoor skydiving for the first time with Eric, Janey, Miles, Brandon and Mathew.  It was so much fun!!  Now I am ready to go and do the real skydiving in Pitt Meadows.  Another thing off my “to do” list soon!

Cosmopolitan Hotel - 14 Cosmopolitan Hotel - 13

On day 2 of this trip, I woke up at 7am, went down to the pool inside Cosmopolitan Hotel and relaxed in the cabana, then came up with a new inspiration and that is to go “hotel and pool hopping” in Vegas for a month after I am 100% debt free.   Not only do I want to check out all the nice pools in the different hotels but I want to really see Vegas outside of just the strip.  I figure it’s not a bad idea to expand my range of traveling experience either, from backpacking with a budget to staying in hostels, to staying in luxury 5- and 6-star hotels in Vegas.  I also want to drive to the Grand Canyon and to Palm Spring.  I hope I will be in a relationship by then so that I can experience both the romantic and the crazy things for couples in Vegas like the so many stories I’ve heard over the years about how wild and sinful Vegas can be but which I’ve never had a chance to experience yet since I had never come to Vegas with my significant other in the past yet!!  Hahaha

Vegas - Sept 2012 - 01

I am in the airport heading home now.  I only have 10 days left before taking off for the South America backpacking trip.  I have decided to challenge myself, therefore I gave myself a budget of an average of $100/day to spend on everything (food, accommodation, shopping, and local activities) except for long distance transportation.  I don’t expect it to be easy but I am ready and excited to take on that challenge because I know I will feel awesome at the end of my trip if I can indeed stick to this budget.  I also think it will be a good training for Deon….
