“I met Amy playing squash. I must admit I was a bit nervous since I hadn’t played for a few years then and didn’t want to embarrass myself in front of a complete stranger. My anxiety only grew when a red Jaguar convertible drove up and a confident and very beautiful woman got out holding her squash bag. I thought this could end up badly with me collapsed on the floor gasping for breath having been comprehensively beaten and pleading for mercy.
However, anyone who knows Amy will know that Amy has a limitless capacity to surprise people and far from ending badly, we have gone on to be close friends both on and off the court. That friendship has taken us on travel adventures far and wide through Asia and South America, on road trips in the US, hiking in the mountains and boating in Vancouver.
Throughout it all and to this day, Amy has a marvelous capacity to surprise me and leave me shaking my head in amazement. Her enthusiasm for living life big and never taking no for an answer means that there is never a dull moment.
