Dating – Enough already?

One of my New Year’s Resolution for 2015 was to find the Mr. Right.  It has been 5 years since the last time I went out on a date.  And only because, Mom starting bugging me about being single (as if I would even consider getting married again)!   Anyways, so this year, I signed myself up in 2 dating sites on Jan. 3/15 (see my dating profile below).   I went on 8 dates total within 3 weeks before I decided to give up that idea.  Here’s what happened during the last 2 dates:

Date #7 – We went on a long hike up in Scottsdale.  Afterwards, we decided to grab a drink at Starbucks.  I lined up for a Chai Latte and a cookie while my date wanted a banana.  He said, “Oh, here let me pay.” I assumed that meant he wanted to pay for my tea and cookie but then he pulled out only a $1 bill.  I was confused until I saw the sign that says $0.99 for the banana then I realized he meant he was gonna pay for the banana only.   How assuming I was to think that he was being chivalrous!  And NO, I didn’t bother asking him for another 6 pennies to pay for tax on that banana!!

A couple of weeks after…

I shared this story with my 3 guests from Chicago when they asked me why I wasn’t dating anymore.  We were in the car then.  In 10 minutes, we got to my house, they saw some bananas on my dining table, then all 3 of them started laughing out loud while staring at those bananas.  They then said,“I will never look at a banana the same again Amy”!  lol

Date #8 –  We were having dinner at a restaurant in Desert Ridge.  The waitress who was taking our order asked if we would be splitting the bill.  My date said, “Yes, please.”   Then when the bill arrived, he looked at his bill and then called the waitress over and said, “Can you please adjust the bill because she had an extra drink, Monte Cristo, after dinner to be exact therefore the bill should not be split 50/50!”  OMG!  Really?  Like seriously? I was totally speechless but I managed to give the waitress my Visa and said “Just put both bills on this card please.”

Wow!  That was the end of my dating life for a long time again!

I always offer to pay for my share on any date.  But 4 of out of those 8 dates refused to let a woman pay.  However, after my experience with date #7 and date #8, I felt I had my share of “dating” for the rest of this year already!

Different point of view

Below is my dating profile:

ME:  I don’t post 5-year old pictures or lie about my details (and so I expect the same). I consider myself a loyal, honest, spontaneous, confident, witty, high energy, and fun person. I am a self aware and self made woman. I am a quick-thinker and like to experience life at a fast pace. I believe in living life to the fullest. Because of this, I am the first to admit that I am impatient. My friends say that I am the first to try anything. They say that I am also one who understands the value of credit and the definition of honour.  My highest values are family, friends, honesty, personal growth and TIME.   Oh, and I have zero tolerance for cheating and dishonesty.

YOU: Someone who is fun, witty, honest, intelligent, financially independent, energetic, and self assured. I admire ambitious and successful people. I have found that disparity in the financial, intellectual or sexual arenas tends to extinguish flames rather quickly. Accountability is a big deal in my world. Being able to sing old karaoke songs (Chinese or English) would be a big bonus because that’s one of my favourite past times.

I am looking for someone who can keep up with my preferred pace in life and can enjoy my high energy level. It is also important that you value constant self improvement because I don’t believe in staying the same.

I have been to 42 countries and my goal is to reach 100 countries before I die.  And traveling alone is not my first choice. So you would score major points if you are not tied down and can travel the world with me for 3-6 months a year…. I can work anywhere as long there is internet which is why I am very flexible in travelling.
