I was at McDonald’s with De and he wanted toys which I refused to buy him today. But I told him if the could memorize the following 5 points, then I would buy him 1 toy per point that he remembers.
HONESTY – because it creates trust
KEEPING YOUR WORDS – so people know you are reliable which is why they can trust you
CREDIT – because need to borrow money to make more money
UNSELFISH – because what goes around comes around. Too lonely to live alone.
CREATIVE – to come up with different ways and solutions to make money smarter instead of harder
Of course Deon being able to memorize and recite all of them. Keeping my word – which is one of the points here – I was compelled to buy him 5 toys of his choice. Damn! Is this consider brainwashing? Am I telling my son that he could get what he wants if he could satisfy what another person wanted? Or, am I telling him that he needed to work for what he wanted? What business sense am I conveying to him? What personal values am I imbibing in him?
