Bye bye to my HK friends – April 5/12

HK

I am so glad I came back to spend a few days to say goodbye to my HK friends.  They will be missed for sure….

  1. Yvonne – I had an amazing 6 hrs with Yvonne – breakfast, manicure, and then lunch. This is the closest we have been ever since we met each other 12 years ago. I just feel that our friendship moved to a whole new level of closeness after the 3 months of spending more time with each other.
  1. Icy – I feel like this is the first time we have become “personal” friends to each other instead of her just being Pan’s sister, and me, just being her sister’s buddy. I admire her simplicity and honesty very much. I appreciate how she goes out of her way to help us whenever she can.
  1. Raphael – After New Year’s Eve, my friendship with Raphael levelled up because of his confession.  I am grateful to him for introducing his 2 friends – Elsa & Cora – to me.
  1.  Elsa and Cora – I am so grateful to have made friends with two amazing ladies through Raphael. I have loved Elsa’s energy ever since the first time I saw her on NYE.  She inspired me to “like” on FB to express appreciation of the person posting something.

Likewise, I am totally inspired by Cora’s 4 year honeymoon backpacking story.  She joined her then husband to go backpacking for a year to Australia & New Zealand.  Then he proposed to her.  They got married and continued backpacking for another 2 years as their honeymoon.  Finally, when they got to Cape Town in Africa, they both liked that city, therefore decided to settle there; they eventually lived there for 4 years.

I have always said I would never marry again but after I heard her story, I might think twice about NEVER now.  I mean, if Mr. Right is ready to take me traveling for 2 years for our honeymoon, then perhaps marriage is worth re-considering after all.  LOL

  1. Maggie & Michelle – Thanks to Julie’s introduction. I couldn’t be more grateful to these 2 ladies for their help in renovating this warm and cozy condo for us to enjoy living in during our HK stay.  They are very kind and sincere. I really appreciate their friendship. I enjoyed very much the hot pot that we shared at Michelle’s house for my goodbye dinner.
  1. Ceci – I asked her to join me to the Water Cube Spa so that we could have more time to talk instead of just over dinner or lunch.  She brought her brother, Jacky, along. I enjoyed their company.  We got into a great conversation about my experiences over the last 7 months.  Ceci says that she no longer feels intimidated by me anymore because,  for her, I seem so much “softer” now than I was years ago, the last time we were together.
  1.  Monkey Bro – The only stranger I met who eventually became my friend.  Such a nice guy!! I went to his electronic shop to say goodbye  then added him to my FB.  I am sure that I will see him again.

I will be missing these friends. But thanks to technology, it makes it really easy to stay connected, albeit virtually.  But connections do happen personally or online, therefore I will make it a habit to stay connected with these friends after I leave.
